The Brief
Our client is going beyond the desktop, enabling our community of over 400 million registered users to stay in touch with friends and family whenever and wherever they are.

One of our key growth areas is implementation of the experience onto a variety of mobile devices with partner operators and direct to consumers. In order to support these activities our client is looking for an enthusiastic systems engineer, ideally with experience or knowledge of developing protocols for mobile environments, who would be interested in learning, documenting and evangelising to partner development teams our client’s mobile solutions. As part of the role, the successful candidate will be a critical member of the mobile team that would be expected to be involved throughout the engineering life cycle of all mobile solutions.

Responsibilities
• Support internal and external development partners in the development of our client’s mobile solutions.
• System engineering lead for their wireless protocol and it’s various implementation flavours.
• Work and support product management teams and operations to identify areas where our client’s wireless protocols may be improved and facilitate implementation of these improvements through appropriate process.
• Deliver technical presentations and training on wireless products to their client development partners.
• Act as the single face to the development partners on all technical issues related to their mobile products.

Pre-requisite knowledge, skills and experience
• Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
• BS or higher degree in CS/EE or equivalent
• Good knowledge of software development and engineering design process, quality control, and product lifecycle.
• Experience in system engineering or software development role ideally in a mobile environment.
Desirable functional / technical skills
• Experience with SIP protocols and VoIP implementations
• Understanding of wireless (GPRS, UMTS, EVDO) networks, operator service delivery architecture.
• Experience of defining requirements for and working with external development houses.
