Tools

According to a recent report from Canalys, Apple's iPhone is the third-best selling smartphone in the world. The iPhone had a 6.5 percent market share worldwide during the fourth quarter, according to the report. Nokia's smartphone portfolio has a 53 percent market share while Research In Motion claims about 11.4 percent. While Canalys does not specifically define "smartphone" in its press release, it notes that the market was comprised of about 35.5 million devices in the previous quarter, a little over 10 percent of the overall 300 million mobile handsets shipped during that period. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has said he'd like to attain 1 percent of the overall mobile phone market.
