MetroPCS offers unlimited international calling

Tools

MetroPCS is offering its customers unlimited international calling to more than 100 countries for $5 per month. The deal is the latest option the flat-rate carrier has added to spruce up its prepaid offerings.

Under the new international calling feature, subscribers will be able to call more than 1,000 destinations for no extra charge other than the $5 per month fee. The company said the unlimited calling plan can be added to its $40, $45 and $50 monthly service plans, including family plans.

In April, MetroPCS added unlimited calling to select locations in Mexico for an extra $3 per month. The carrier also recently added a family conference feature that gives family members one number that rings all of their cell phones at once, placing them into a conference call.

Perhaps as a sign of its growing market clout, Standard & Poor's said MetroPCS would replace Tyco Electronics on the S&P 500 stock index. The company will join the index after the close of trading June 29.

MetroPCS reported a 20 percent increase in revenue in the first quarter, to $795 million, up from $622 million in the year-ago quarter. The carrier also had a record 684,000 net subscriber additions in the quarter.

This is a nice offer if you plan to call landline-only numbers in 82 of the 100 countries specified. Read the fine print: You can only call wireless phone numbers in 18 countries on this plan, but Mexico isn't one of them. And if you’re roaming in Cricket territory you should plan on paying $0.19/minute. Smells like BS to me. Just more hidden fees and smoke and mirrors from MetroPCS.

Its an awsome deal for 5$ a month Skype doesnt even get that!!!! Amazing Metro PCS is very good, I have since 6 Months Its perfect the coverage is perfect. People say they travel but do you really get out of where you live or work more than 90% of the timeS??!!! NO contracts also its a blast, I LOVE IT!!! The only thing is : Please METRO Strat getting some hot new cells!!! or get the sim card technology so we can put any cell on it. Your choice is too limited, and you should make a reward program so that when we buy a cell from you guys we dont get it a the regular unlocked price!! Work on this and you will conquer no doubt!

The problem with this plan from MetroPCS is that you have to have an expensive plan to begin with. I have a simple Tracfone which costs me a total of $12 per month, I can make long distance and international calls to over 100 country's for the same price as a local call. Roaming is free, the reception is great all over America and there are no hidden costs. If you, like me, make lots of international calls then I suggest Trafone and you won’t get any nasty bills at the end of the month.

Smoke and Mirrors? Sounds like Mr. Votava is a Boost shill. I called 7 different countries and calls to Korea are crystal clear. Called Panama, no problem, England no problem. THANK YOU METROPCS FOR UNLIMITING INTERNATIONAL CALLS!!! This is the real deal, unlimited calls to my friends and family abroad

No doubt, a great plan. MetroPCS once again delivers. No fine print - 43200 minutes a month to France! Merci Metro, Je t'aime bien!
