T-Mobile USA to cap 3G data usage at 1GB
A day after T-Mobile USA launched the G1 in conjunction with Google, it appears the carrier will be capping the data usage on its 3G UMTS network at 1GB, according to a report on Engadget Mobile.
The wireless carrier, in fine print on a link about its 3G UMTS/HSDPA data plans, said that if users exceed 1 GB of data usage in their billing cycle, their throughput speeds may be reduced to 50 Kbps for the remainder of the billing cycle, effectively ending a 3G connection.
Data plans for the G1 run between $25 and $35 per month, with the $35 plan being touted as offering unlimited web, email and messaging access.

This is why Herb Kohl and others in Congress are going after the wireless companies. What part of "unlimited" do the carriers not understand? Just call it a 1GB plan.
